MicroTrace Archaeology consists of team of experts that specialise in the sampling and analysis of stone, bone, shell and glass artefacts. Our particular expertise is the microscopic study of stone artefacts, including various classes of flaked stone, grinding and pounding stones, and in-situ grinding surfaces such as axe-grinding grooves and bedrock grinding patches. We use a variety of microscopes, biological staining techniques and sampling procedures to document usewear and residue traces on the artefact surfaces that potentially indicate how they were used in the past. 

MicroTrace Archaeology also offers professional services in Lithic Analysis, Archaeobotany, Cultural Heritage Management and Indigenous Signage.
